Ceud Mìle Fàilte -

A hundred thousand welcomes to the website of

The Big Omaha Maritme Historical Trust

The Jane Gifford returns home

The Jane Gifford travelled up the Mahurangi River to Warkworth on Saturday 16 May 2009.

The Auckland Regional Council have recently placed signs leading to and on the Big Omaha Wharf. Many thanks to Carol Ramage for working with the ARC to improve the historical content of the signs.

The flagpole at the Whangateau Hall was raised on 9 May 2009. The reunion commemoration project reflects the appreciation of the family to the Big Omaha/Whangateau and wider community. Many thanks to Sally for putting forward this concept and carrying it through to fruitition.

The February 2009 newsletter has now been posted on the website  - see News section.

Recent news - the Big Omaha Maritime Historical Trust has received approval as a registered charitable body. This means that within limits donations over $5 to the trust by individuals and companies qualify for a tax rebate of 33%.

Sally Meiklejohn has decided to step back from many of the roles she has had in organising family reunions etc and also as a trustee. Sally maintains her interest in genealogy - both of the Meiklejohns and her maternal side. Our never-ending thanks go to Sally for her significant contribution to strengthening our family bonds.
